This summer has been a busy one for BMBA.
Our nomination for the battlefield to be added to the National Register of Historic Places has been turned in to the state Preservation Office. We are very hopeful that this time the battlefield will be accepted. Now we wait.
Toast and Taps was held at the battlefield on the 153rd anniversary of the Battle of Brown's Mill. It is an honor for us to call the names of those who died on this hallowed ground from both sides of the conflict.
Our newest project is the development of walking/running trails at the battlefield to allow the use of the logging roads that cris-cross the property. Back in the Spring members of the BMBA Board of Directors and a group of volunteers worked to clean a 10 ft. wide, 748 ft. long strip of land that connects 2 existing trails. This week work will continue on that strip. Hopefully, this project will be completed by Spring.
We were invited to work with the Coweta Genealogical Society on a display for the Georgia National Fair in Perry, Ga. We began the set-up of this display on last Friday and will complete it this week. If you go to this fair be sure to visit the History Building to see our display.
As always, your continued encouragement and support are greatly appreciated!!!
